Suspected Al shabaab fighters attack army base in southern Somalia



Armed gunmen believed to be members of Al shabaab have staged a massive nigh-time attack on a Somali army outpost in the southern middle Shabelle region, reports said on Wednesday.

The overnight attack occurred at Ali Gadud mosque area located on the outskirts of Adale town in middle Shabelle, where has been scene of Al shabaab ambush attack over the past few months.

Reports say SNA forces in the base have managed to successfully repel the attack and fend off the militants from the area during fierce gunfire that lasted for nearly an hours, according to military source.

Another separate incident took place in Jowhar, the region’s capital city, whereby a Somali soldier has shot and killed an armed civilian and the motive behind the murder remains unclear.
