Thousand soldiers may leave Somali HirShabelle

Around 1,000 troopers could leave HirShabelle State in Somalia this month, announced the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM).

AMISOM head Francisco Madeira was confirmed on Sunday to have addressed the pullout with HirShabelle State president Mohamed Abdi Waare Saturday evening.

According to the AMISOM chief, “we have been discussing with President Waare on how we can implement the transition plan in a manner that still ensures security in his state.”

Waare also stated that “the transition plan is finally becoming a reality and there are painful decisions that have to be taken.”
