Puntland state of Somalia has elected Abdiweli Gaas as the new president of the state. The election was held today in Garowe the capital of Puntland.
Abdiweli the former prime minister of the Federal republic of Somali has won the election with 33 votes of the parliamentarians, while Farole the incumbent president received 32 votes.
There were many observers from the international communities attended the election. The election was transparent and live video streamed podcasted and watched throughout the world.
The new president will hold the office for the next five years.
